Architect in Aqaba: chalets, tourism projects and warehouses
In Aqaba I design chalets and houses at South Beach and Tala Bay, hotels and tourism projects, and warehouses and logistics buildings near the port and the industrial city. I am based in Amman, I visit the site in Aqaba once at the start of the project, and we then review the plans remotely until the file is complete.

Designing buildings for Aqaba's hot climate: shading, orientation and materials
Aqaba's climate is hot for most of the year, with higher humidity near the sea in summer, and this changes every design decision compared with Amman. The first decision is orientation: I reduce openings on the west and south facades and open the building to the north and the sea breeze. The second is shading: deep horizontal canopies, roofed balconies, sun breakers and shaded internal courtyards that give light without direct heat. The third is materials: fully insulated walls, insulated roofs in light colours and treated glass, avoiding exposed metal surfaces.
Cross ventilation matters too: I place the openings so air passes from one facade to another, which reduces reliance on air conditioning in the milder months. Jordanian stone still suits facades in Aqaba, but I combine it with light paint and treated wood depending on the project. All of these decisions are made in the initial layout, because correcting them after construction is costly.
Chalet and beach house design in Aqaba: South Beach and Tala Bay
A chalet or house at South Beach or in Tala Bay is usually built for holidays or rental, and the sea view is what pays for it. I design the main space, living room, kitchen and seating terrace, so it all opens onto the sea, with a deep canopy protecting the glass from direct sun. Bedrooms go on the quiet side with natural ventilation, and the service and laundry area is kept off the guests' route. The pool sits near the terrace, sheltered from the wind, because Aqaba's winds are strong in some seasons.
In tourism compounds like Tala Bay the management has its own design conditions on heights, materials and colours, and I review them before starting. Materials near the sea must resist salt: rust-resistant metals, treated wood and suitable exterior paints. If the chalet is for rent I design one or two independent units with separate entrances, and prepare 3D visualization for advertising.
Hotel and tourism project design in Aqaba: ASEZA approvals
Aqaba is a special economic zone, and building approvals go through the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority rather than a municipality, with its own requirements for tourism, commercial and residential projects. I confirm the authority's requirements and the plot conditions at the start, and the file is submitted through a licensed engineering office in coordination with me.
A small hotel, hotel apartments or a tourist rest house is designed from the guest's route: arrival and reception, rooms and their views, restaurant and pool, then the service routes the guest never sees. Rooms face the sea or the pool, and circulation is protected from the sun with shading and courtyards. Service routes, from kitchen and laundry to the rooms, are drawn separately from the start because correcting them later is hard. I prepare the complete architectural plan with the 3D visualization the investor needs for financing and approvals, and coordinate with the structural and MEP engineers.
Warehouses and logistics buildings near Aqaba port and the industrial city
Near Aqaba port, in the industrial city and in Al-Karama there is steady demand for storage warehouses, logistics buildings and hangars for shipping and clearance companies. A warehouse in Aqaba has two extra conditions because of the climate: thermal insulation in the roof and walls to protect the goods, and ventilation that stops heat and humidity building up. I design the hangar with the height and spans suited to cranes and racking, and I set the truck doors, loading docks and manoeuvring space according to the trucks arriving from the port.
I add shaded administrative offices separated from the storage area, emergency exits and fire protection requirements according to the type of goods. The permit goes through the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and is submitted through a licensed engineering office. I deliver the architectural drawings and coordinate with the structural engineer on the steel structure, all with one site visit and then remote reviews.
Services in Aqaba
Chalet and farmhouse design
A chalet or farmhouse is used on weekends and left empty the rest of the week, so it needs a different design from a permanent home: privacy from neighbors, a pool and outdoor kitchen that work harder than the interior, and materials that tolerate sun and absence. I design chalets and farmhouses at the Dead Sea, in the Jordan Valley, Jerash, Ajloun, Madaba and the other governorates.

A commercial building is measured by what it rents: how many shops have a street frontage, how many net office square meters each floor gives, and whether the parking serves customers and tenants. I design commercial buildings, complexes and showrooms in Amman from the commercial zoning study to the construction drawings, with a facade that carries tenant signage without being ruined by it.
Read moreHangar and warehouse design
A hangar is simple in form and hard in its decisions: how wide a span without columns, how high for the racking, and where the truck stops. Each of these changes the cost per square meter. I design hangars, warehouses and storage buildings in Jordan, industrial, commercial and agricultural, from the plot study to the construction drawings in coordination with the structural engineer.
Read moreVilla design
A good villa starts with the plot itself: sun direction, views, setbacks and the building ratio your zone allows. I design the villa from the first sketch to the construction drawings, with studied facades and 3D visualization you can see before construction starts.

A garden in Amman is not just a green area. In summer it is used more than the living room. I design gardens for villas, ground floor apartments and farms: paving, walls and steps, planting that handles Amman's climate and scarce water, irrigation, lighting, a pergola and a pool where wanted, and I deliver drawings the landscape contractor builds from.

Do you visit the site in Aqaba?
Yes. I visit the site once at the start of the project to see the plot, the sea direction and the wind myself, and reviews after that are remote by video call.
Are permit procedures in Aqaba different from Amman?
Yes. Approvals in Aqaba go through the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority with its own requirements, and the file is submitted through a licensed engineering office in coordination with me.
How do you protect a building from Aqaba's heat?
By orienting it away from the west and south, deep shading, thermal insulation in roofs and walls, and cross ventilation. These decisions are made in the initial layout.
Do you design warehouses or hangars near Aqaba port?
Yes. I design warehouses and logistics buildings with suitable heights, spans and loading docks, and insulation and ventilation that suit the climate.
