Architect in West Amman: villa design, stone facades and gardens
In West Amman I design villas on zone A and B plots, from Abdoun and Dabouq to Khalda and Um Uthaina, with stone facades, gardens and a high finishing level. I am based in Amman, I visit the plot or the existing villa myself, and we then review the plans remotely until the design is approved.

Villa design in West Amman: stone, privacy and the view
Plots in Abdoun, Dabouq, Al-Kursi and Deir Ghbar are mostly zone A or B: wider plots, larger setbacks and a limited number of floors. This frees the placement of the building, but it raises the question of privacy. The neighbouring villa is close, the street is exposed, and on most plots the view faces one direction. I start the design from these points. Living rooms face the view and the garden, the facade facing the neighbour gets small openings or stone screens, and the front garden is raised or screened with a stone wall and planting.
Facades in West Amman are mostly Jordanian stone, and the difference between villas lies in the stone type, the cutting pattern and the proportions of the openings. The construction drawings specify the stone type, thickness and cutting direction, and how it meets glass, wood and metal. The 3D visualization shows the facade with the real materials before stone work begins.
Gardens and pools for West Amman villas: landscape is part of the plan
In West Amman villas the garden is living space, not just a setback. So I design the landscape, the garden, paths and pool, together with the villa plan, not after it. The pool position decides where the summer lounge and outdoor kitchen go, and the garden level decides whether the lower floor opens onto it or needs stairs. On sloped plots in Dabouq and Al-Kursi I use the slope for two levels: an upper garden by the living room and a lower garden by the lower floor rooms.
I also screen the pool from the neighbours and the street with its position, planting and stone walls, and I mark the shaded areas because afternoon sun in Amman is strong. The plan includes exterior lighting, irrigation points and drainage paths so the contractor receives a complete file. If the villa exists and you only want a pool, I study the available setbacks and prepare the drawing for approval.
Renovating 1990s villas in West Amman: Khalda, Tla' Al-Ali and Um Al-Summaq
Many villas in Khalda, Tla' Al-Ali and Um Al-Summaq were built in the 1990s and early 2000s. They are structurally sound, but their layout no longer fits how a family lives today: closed living rooms, a small separate kitchen and many small bedrooms. Restructuring means I survey the existing building during a site visit, then propose opening the living room to the kitchen, merging two rooms into a main suite and adding glazed openings towards the garden, with the structural engineer reviewing every wall that is removed.
The facade is renewed at the same time: new window proportions, added canopies and balconies, and cleaning or partial renewal of the stone instead of replacing it. Sometimes the answer is an added floor or a larger roof level if the zoning allows. In every case I compare the estimated renovation cost with demolition and rebuilding, based on a quantity take-off, so you decide on numbers rather than an impression.
Interior design and furniture layout in West Amman villas: what sets the finishing level
The finishing level in West Amman villas is usually high, which means interior decisions have to be made before the construction drawings, not during construction. I place the furniture on the plan at an early stage so that electrical points, lighting and air conditioning are positioned accurately, and so it becomes clear whether the living room really fits the guest seating or whether the kitchen needs an island.
Then I choose the floor, wall and ceiling materials, the stair type and the doors with the family, and I prepare 3D visualization of the main spaces: the entrance, the living room, the kitchen and the main suite. The visualization is a decision tool, not just a nice image: the owner and the contractor see the same thing before any material is bought. This reduces changes on site, which are always costly. In larger villas I also coordinate with the lighting designer and the joiner on kitchen and wardrobe details.
Services in West Amman
Villa design
A good villa starts with the plot itself: sun direction, views, setbacks and the building ratio your zone allows. I design the villa from the first sketch to the construction drawings, with studied facades and 3D visualization you can see before construction starts.
Read moreArchitectural facade design
The facade is what people see of a house every day, and it is the hardest part to change after construction. I design facades for houses, villas and apartment buildings in Amman: the choice of Jordanian stone and its cut, how it meets wood or aluminum, exterior lighting, and a 3D visualization you approve before work starts.
Read moreLandscape and garden design
A garden in Amman is not just a green area. In summer it is used more than the living room. I design gardens for villas, ground floor apartments and farms: paving, walls and steps, planting that handles Amman's climate and scarce water, irrigation, lighting, a pergola and a pool where wanted, and I deliver drawings the landscape contractor builds from.
Read moreInterior design and furniture layout
Good interior design starts with the furniture layout, not the color choices: where the sofa stands, how you pass from the door to the kitchen without obstruction, and where you actually need light. I design the interiors of apartments and villas in Amman from furniture layout and circulation to lighting, ceilings and materials, and I deliver plans the finishing contractor and carpenter work from directly.
Read moreRenovation and restructuring of existing buildings
An existing house holds value that should not be demolished: land in a good location, a sound structure and stone that keeps its worth. I restructure existing houses and apartment buildings in Amman by changing the plan, removing or adding walls, converting a house into apartments, adding a floor or roof level and renewing the facade, after a structural check and with a modification permit issued in coordination with a licensed engineering office.
Read more3D architectural visualization
An engineer reads a plan, but a project owner needs to see the house as it will be. I produce 3D architectural visualization of facades and interior spaces from several angles, by day and by night, with a walkthrough animation on request, for my own projects and for plans prepared by other offices anywhere in Jordan.

Do you design villas on zone A and B plots in West Amman?
Yes. Most of my work in West Amman is on these plots, and I start by reviewing the zoning site plan for setbacks and building ratio before any drawing.
Can an older villa in Khalda be renovated instead of demolished?
In most cases yes, if the structure is sound. I visit the villa, survey it, and compare the renovation cost with rebuilding before you decide.
Is garden and pool design included in villa design?
Landscape design can be added to the villa package, and I prefer to design it with the plan itself so the garden levels match the lower floor.
How many site visits does the service include in West Amman?
One visit to the plot or the existing villa at the start of the project is included, and reviews after that are remote. Visits during construction fall under construction supervision.
